Matthew J. Franklin, MBA, Partner

Mr. Franklin has served in a broad range of capacities for several early stage companies. Prior to co-founding CFO Connection, he was ACLARA BioSciences, Inc., a public "lab-on-a-chip" technology company which had one of the most successful IPO’s in Biotech history, first CFO. While at ACLARA, he oversaw finance, accounting, administration, HR, facilities & IT. During the first three years of the Company’s existence he assisted in raising over $40 million dollars of venture capital, corporate partnerships, government grants and debt financing. Prior to ACLARA, he was Co-Founder and CFO at BioLumin Corporation, a medical device company, until the Company was sold to a publicly traded firm. He has also served as the Interim CFO of Greatlodge (Software/Internet), PeopleTrends (Internet) and AFx, Inc (Medical Device). Some of his current life science clients he represents include: iScience Surgical (Medical Device), GenoRx (Biochip) and BioMarker Pharmaceuticals. Early in his career he was held senior financial positions at VeloBind, Inc. (Manufacturing) and Precision Echo (Defense).

His accomplishments include the following:
± Negotiated major equity investments from corporate partners including Applied Biosystems, Johnson & Johnson, Dow Chemical, and Packard Instrument.
± Secured $6 million dollars of debt including $3 million of unsecured leasehold improvements for a 44,000 square foot facility, for which he was responsible for programming, building and moving.
± Secured and supervised administration of 401K plans, payroll and other employee benefits (health, dental, vision, Section 125 and life insurance) and designed and implemented base salary, cash and stock guidelines and bonus programs.

Mr. Franklin received a BS in Business from the University of Southern California and an MBA from Santa Clara University. He is currently the Program Chair of the Silicon Valley Association of Startup Entrepreneurs’ VC Breakfast Club and a former Executive Fellow at Santa Clara University's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE). He has served on several Bay Area company Board of Directors including most recently Elthe Corporation (Communications & Networking).

Keith Corbin, CPA, Partner

Mr. Corbin joined CFO Connection as a Partner in early 2002. Mr. Corbin presently serves as “virtual CFO/COO” on behalf of multiple emerging technology companies providing strategic financial consulting and fund raising services. He has comprehensive experience in all areas of executive and financial management, including strategic planning, business development, operations, marketing, sales and finance. He has a proven track record of strategically building organizations, leading turnarounds, raising capital and serving in key leadership positions for public, pre-public and early-stage companies. Prior to joining CFO Connection he served as CEO of Online Staffing, an information technology services company. Prior to Online Staffing, Mr. Corbin held the position of CFO at Hall Kinion & Associates, a public information technology staffing company where the company grew five-fold during his four-year tenure. He also held the positions of Vice President International Finance at Addeco/Adia International, a multi-national public personnel services company where he helped the Company grow ten-fold over a ten-year period. He has also worked in public accounting with Deloitte & Touche and at a large manufacturing, retailing and financial services company.

Mr. Corbin received a Bachelor of Business Administration (with honors) from City University of New York. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
